An appeal to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on Education on the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum

Holy Father, we the undersigned:

1. We express our deep gratitude to Your Holiness for your own personal example liturgical offered to the universal Church. She is really a homo liturgicus, whose love for the liturgy is an inspiration, it teaches more clearly the centrality of the words of the liturgy in the Church.

2. We thank Your Holiness for your gift to the Church of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum in 2007. From that year it has borne much fruit, including a greater unity in the Church of Christ and a widespread enrichment of the liturgical life of the Church.

3. We note with sadness the opposition is continuing and real implementation of Summorum Pontificum in many dioceses and from many members of the hierarchy, suffering and discomfort that continues to cause many to believe in Christ and the obstacle that this opposition is to an effective reconciliation within the Church.

4. We note with concern the apparent signs of an imminent Education on the Summorum Pontificum, which restricts in any way the provisions contained in the motu proprio and limit its broad scope, so eloquently expressed by Your Holiness magnanimous letter in which the measure "We open our hearts and give generously to all that space allows the faith."

5. We express our grave concern that the restrictions would cause any scandal, strife and suffering in the Church and frustrate reconciliation that Your Holiness so ardently desired; also prevent the continuation the liturgical renewal and development in continuity with Tradition, the fruits of his already remarkable pontificate.

6. We express our hope, our desire and our urgent appeal to the positive effects that Your Holiness has already obtained through His Summorum Pontificum can not be hindered by such restrictions.

7. We appeal to Your Holiness and with filial confidence, as obedient sons and daughters with sin pleased that you, Holy Father, should consider promptly to our concerns and take action where it deems appropriate.

8. We assure Your Holiness to our continued prayers, our deep affection and our fidelity.
