Hot dog

The hot dog is a sandwich stuffed with a sausage, often flavored with ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard and sometimes accompanied by vegetables (eg sauerkraut). To achieve it would normally use a soft bread oblong, cut in half for sandwiches. There are also tools to make a hole in the sandwich form appropriate to hold the sausage, which can then be inserted into the roll without cutting it in two parts. Extremely popular in the U.S. (where it is often sold on the streets, in stadiums and so on), the hot dog is widespread in much of the world (including Italy) and in many places is one of a kind of finger food more common.
Often the hot dog is approached hamburger, another type of bread very popular in the United States and spread throughout the world, with properties similar food.
Origins of the name
Dog is the English word used to identify not only the "dog", but also the "ratchet," said anchesì "bridle" or "grappa" and, more specifically in the case of hot dogs, they remind the reins (long about 15 cm) once used by railroad workers to lock the rails to wooden ties.
Using the other meaning of dog, which is to "dog", was subsequently created by a German comic a cartoon depicting a dachshund (Dachshund) instead of hot dogs (both from Germany).
Curiosity
